SHOULD HAVE BEEN A UNICORN FT. MAKE ME CHIC
Happy Wednesday, darlings & dearests:
I hope each and everyone of you had a fun Halloween and got LOTS of candy! I didn't dress up in a costume this year because life has gotten too busy. But quite frankly, I am a dress up queen on the daily basis, so it's not that big of a deal. I think as an adult it's pretty crucial to dress up for Halloween to be able to let the "kid" inside you out for a fun night of trick-or-treating. We live in such a stressed out world with so many responsibilities that it's easy to forget that we, too, were once children. So,grab a costume, paint your face and go out because you know what? YOLO!
As we all know, on Wednesdays we wear pink or in my case, PURPLE. I have collaborated with an awesome clothing brand called Make Me Chic with an even awesome (-er) selection of affordable clothing! I picked out this look that I created with a gorgeous lilac velvet dress and a gorgeous floral bomber jacket. Velvet has been all the rage this Fall from velvet bomber jackets to velvet chokers and etc. Every single runway at NYFW seems to have had this trend as a feature this year, which I totally support 100%. I remember my very first velvet dress. My mom sewed it with her own hands for me and my two younger sisters. It was a beautiful reddish burgundy shade with a white lace collar that tied in the back accentuating the waist. My sisters and I have never owned anything quite like the dresses my mom made us. I remember constantly touch the fabric on the dress because of its softness and when I got this dress in the mail it and unpacked it, it rushed lost of memories back. Don't you think it's amazing that a simple fabric can do that to our brain triggering a happy memory like that? I think it's amazing! Ah, science! *insert raising both hands in celebration emoji*
Anyway, back to the outfit. I paired the gorgeous dress with a bomber jacket to add a nice mix of styles in there. I prefer to style something very feminine and girly with more of a tomboyish piece, like the jacket here to add a bit of Aida flair to an outfit. I think everyone should always stay true to their style even if it's a piece of clothing that you haven't styled before. I hope you enjoyed this week's collaboration with Make Me Chic. Feel free to hop on over to their site for some Halloween or pre-Thanksgiving shopping. And remember, you are your own unicorn inn this life. Do not let anyone dictate on what you should wear, because YOU always know what's best for you, my little darling! Be good and until next time.
