That's exactly what I thought when I saw this picture of myself, a basic girl on IG copying another basic girl on IG. Oh, well, we'll come back to that.

I hope each and everyone of you lovelies is having a splendiferous week. I am having a great week thus far. My love and I celebrated 6 years of togetherness on the 22nd of May. It's kind of surreal to think that we've been annoying each other for so long and still managed to stay madly in love. I also celebrated my last Sunday shift at work -- praise the Lord! I am so excited to have the entire weekend to myself. Yay! Yay! Yay!

So, let me go back to the whole "being a basic girl" thing. I specifically went onto Urban Dictionary (I know, I know, such a credible source of knowledge)! Ha! And what I found was pretty humiliating...for the people that wrote it. Here are some of the ones that I found absurd:

1. Starbucks: are you kidding me? If you are going to call me "basic" because I need caffeine, fine. I am 100% okay with that. By that logic, most Americans are basic, knowing that we spend around 10 billion annually on Starbucks drinks.

2. Dog pictures: whoever wrote this insightful article on UD was obviously a zombie with no heart. I mean who doesn't love dog pictures or dog for that matter? It's one of the cheapest forms of therapy known to mankind. A dog can make any human smile and this is why they have puppy therapy in big hospitals or rehab facilities or nursing homes.

3. Can quote "Mean Girls": and so can YOU, the person that wrote this craziness. I don't see how being able to quote this movie makes someone basic and in fact, it's not even the most quotable movie of all time, google it. This simply means that I thoroughly enjoyed the work of one amazing bomb-ass woman, Tina Fey and I want to imprint myself with a piece of her brain by memorizing all movie lines she's ever spoken, including Pitch Perfect!

But really, what's so wrong with being basic, although the term needs to stop existing altogether?

I am proud to say that I am at a stage in my life where I do not want to impress people with my "coolness" or try to put on a show just for likes or popularity. It has taken me a good while to realize that I am who I am and nothing can ever change that. Yes, I love my Starbucks and my leggings and I can quote the entire screenplay of "Mean Girls" and I am content in that fact. I hope the same for you, too, whoever is reading this. You are a gem and I like you!

Now go out there and have the most excellent week and let's be basic together!

Now back to fashion...I did a little damage at Zara a few weeks ago and honestly, I wish I could buy the entire store because every single item in there screams my name. I love basic, simple pieces that you can accessorize in a variety of different ways instead of having a bunch of pieces that you don't ever wear. If I could give you one of the biggest tips of life it would be this -- invest in good quality basic pieces (ex: jeans, basic tops, blazers) and spend a little less on accessories and trendy items. I feel like that way you don't have a closet full of things only a unicorn would wear and you can find something for everyday wear, but also don not be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and experiment with new styles.

This entire look is pretty much Zara and I love every single piece. The top is absolutely gorgeous and effortlessly chic. It has the off-the-shoulder style and stripes (my newest obsession) and also a looser fit making it great for those vacation months coming up for all of us or at least that is the hope, right? One of my favorite things to get at Zara is denim. It fits great, although can run small due to European sizing, but I am always impressed by the quality and durability. The adorable green sandals are also by Zara (on sale, too!) and these will be a perfect summer sandal to do some flippin'n'floppin' around the city.

I hope this outfit gives you some inspiration for the end of Spring, beginning of Summer season. If you liked anything, check out the links below to all of the items I wore. Some of them are the same and some are similar in style. I hope you enjoyed and please come back for more content.

Hello, World!
